Public
libraries

Public libraries are great places! They are welcoming spaces, they support reading and learning, they give people access to technology. In the past, they were all about books but these days you can borrow many different items from a public library: books, CDs, DVDs etc. And, what’s more, you can usually join for free!
Of course, all libraries have rules—about how many items you can borrow, about how long you can keep them out and about the fines you must pay if you return items late or if you damage or lose them.
What’s your experience of public libraries?
- Do you belong to one?
- Did you pay to join?
- What can you borrow there?
- How many items can you have out at any one time?
- How long can you keep them?
- Can you renew them? If so, how many times?
- What happens if you lose an item or return it late?
- Are you allowed to borrow anything when you have overdue items?
Make some notes. Type them in the box.
